Vegas Vacation

Gluttony and greed run rampant in Sin City. No where else have I seen so many buffets. 24 hour buffet pass to 7 different buffets? And the amount of alcohol that is consumed? It is an over-eater and alcoholics dream vacation.

When we checked into our hotel we were given a two-for-one coupon for the buffet and for drinks at any of the restaurants in the hotel. Even the hotel supports my sins. Or maybe they were just trying to save me a little cash, because they know I couldn’t keep the blackjack dealer from taking it in a matter on minutes. So of course we had a buffet for lunch and drinks after a long day of being nerdy camera-happy tourists. We came at the right time and were able to watch bartender flare and cheer for a couple free shots.

My father suggested that we eat at the Rio’s seafood buffet. Wonderful recommendation! It was $40 but I thought it was worth it. Crab legs, shrimp, fish, sushi, oysters, lobster, I swear it never ended. I could have sat there for hours taking trip after trip up to get more food. But we had to get to the Mystere Cirque du Soleil performance at Treasure Island. If you have never seen a Cirque du Soleil performance I suggest putting it on your bucket list because it is A-Mazing!

One place that I really want to go was Bobby Flay’s restaurant called Mesa Grill. I haven’t ever eaten at a place that is nice/classy enough to have an executive chef or a famous one at that. Our waiter was very friendly and gave great recommendations… like the $16 margarita. Yes please!

It was made with Partida tequila which he told us was the #1 tequila in the world (or something like that). We went during the lunch hour so it would be “cheaper”. I ordered the Smoked Shrimp Tacos with Salsa, cabbage slaw and grilled tortillas. The waiter said it would go great with my margarita (haha okay buddy). Nate got the New Mexican Spiced Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with grilled red onion, arugula, ancho chile mayonnaise and Southwestern fries. The fries were outstanding! Sounds dumb to rave about but seriously, so awesome. All around, I definitely eat there again!

Another first for me was room service. We ordered a simple breakfast but just the thought that it was brought right to me was so cool!

Las Vegas is unlike any place I have been, I was in awe the whole time. It is such a lifestyle unlike my own that I wanted to stay and do and eat and learn more. I will definitely be back.
